The new documentary series “Get Organized with The Home Edit” is a big hit on Netflix.
If you haven’t seen it yet (HOW?): master-organizers Clea and Joanna run a company that reinvents traditional organizing from Nashville, Tennessee. A business that they promoted and grew largely on their blog and social media channels.
They merge organizing with design and have become famous for their functional systems that everyone can maintain for the long term.
From bedrooms and kitchens, to closets and pantries. Every project receives meticulous attention to detail, carefully considered systems, and the signature stylized aesthetic of these humoristic, rainbow-loving ladies and their team.
What this has to do with space travel?
Let me show you!
SPACE THEMED BEDROOM FOR KIDS

SHOP THE LOOK FROM THE SHOW
In the 8th and final episode of the show, Joanna and Clea make the most out of the shared bedroom of the two boys Quinn and Eli. Coming up with a theme to tie in all the elements of the room, they went for “Space”, and of course I couldn’t be happier!
I loved how they added elements of the Space Theme into the room, such as the Solar System and Rockets, but also how they didn’t go too crazy making the room tacky and cluttered. They found a nice, calm balance that I’m sure the kids will love even a few years from now.
Today, I’m attempting to re-create (elements from) the boys’ bedroom with items you can find on Amazon. If I couldn’t find the exact product, then I searched for an alternative that I’m sure you’ll love as well – or even more.
THE BASICS: CONSTELLATION WALLPAPER & CURTAINS
The gorgeous navy blue wallpaper with golden ‘splatters’ that you can see in the show from Target, but if you don’t have access to this shop (like here in The Netherlands), then I found some other amazing celestial wallpapers on Amazon that are equally out-of-this-world.
In the episode, they used plain curtains, but I found a nice set of navy star blackout curtains, that I’m sure will look great in a space-themed room as well! What do you think?
CONSTELLATION DUVET SETS
How cute was the constellation duvet that you could see on the series? I found a couple of other star bedding sets that would look amazing too. Which one is your favourite?
THE BIG ORGANIZERS
Of course, the show was all about the organization of the room rather than the theme itself, so I’ve included some of the big organizers from the episode, such as the adjustable white wall/door rack and the navy blue storage cubes.
I couldn’t find a similar type of hamper with lid as you can see in the show in the boy’s closet, but love this navy blue foldable laundry hamper from Amazon a lot too. I’ve added a dark blue rope storage basket as well, because I just loved it too much. Perfect for storing toys or stuffed animals (some space-themed suggestions of that are further down below!)
Then I also found this amazing deep blue toy box, that I believe is a great addition to any kids room with space theme (or any theme, really) and a white 3-tier metal rolling tray as a perfect substitute to the white wire-rack closet storage from the episode.
THE SMALL ORGANIZERS
There isn’t a Home Edit project without use of their signature transparant acryl organizing boxes, is there? I’ve added some suggestions below.
I also found a similar set of white velvet hangers like you can see on the episode.
ADDITIONAL FURNITURE
Once I started browsing, I almost couldn’t stop and wanted to show you this adorable deep blue wooden children’s table and chair set that would be such a great fit in the room!
SPACE ROCKET LAMPS
I LOVE the silver space ship wire table lamp that you can see in the episode, but again, it’s from Target and we don’t have access to that shop where I live.
Instead, I found a great astronaut desk lamp and rocket base lamp on Amazon, and also stumbled across this cool blue and green lava lamp. Didn’t we all have one of these back in the 90s? I sure did!
SOLAR SYSTEM WALL HANGERS (+ CUTE RUG)
The cute framed solar system wall hanging from the show is from Target, but again (I know I’m repeating myself), if you don’t have access to that shop, I’ve added some lovely alternatives on Amazon for you as well.
I found a similar solar system mobile like the one from the show on Amazon as well, and also: how cute is that round solar system rug?!
BONUS: SOLAR SYSTEM PLUSHIES
Have you heard about the Celestial Buddies yet?
Ah, I LOVE these so much. They are cute solar system plushies that I’m sure would make a great addition to any space-themed children’s bedroom:

BONUS: SPACE KIDS BOOKS
In any kids bedroom should be a good bookshelf, and what better than to stock a space-themed room with some amazing space kids books?
